Balloon Sculptures / Installation
© Frankie Sinclair 1996

Materials: Balloons glued together with special low temperature glue.
Size: About 2m x 2m max.

Cartoon 'heroines' - the exaggerated bodies of Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. I was interested in the 'Queen moment' when a lady dresses up and stars - think of Lady Di on her wedding day. The dress just gets gargantuan - the bigger the better. Post wedding they start to shrink.

The balloon heroines were usually on show in art exhibitions for about 3 weeks and over time they'd get wrinkled and deflated see Bridal Girl

The balloon sculptures appeared in Beck's New Contemporaries (now Becks Futures), a show of some of the most interesting art coming out of art schools in Britain - travelled to major public galleries across the UK. Pink Lady was shown in New York at the Gracie Mansion gallery.
